LARIM 2019: XVI Latin American Regional IAU Meeting

Antofagasta (Chile), 3-8 November 2019

Welcome to Chile! LARIM 2019 will take place in Antofagasta, a city rich in traditions and cultural expressions, in a region which is host to several of the world’s flagship astronomical projects, including VLT, ALMA and E-ELT. This conference is targeted to professional astronomers, postdocs, postgraduate and undergraduate students pursuing a research career in Astronomy.  LARIM 2019 will provide an outstanding opportunity for scientific discussion and will foster new collaborations among astronomers from Latin American countries. Students and astronomers in the early stages of their research careers are especially encouraged to attend.

LARIM 2019 is being organized by the Chilean Astronomical Society (SOCHIAS) which has delegated this responsibility in a Chilean LOC and a South American SOC. The IAU website contains full LOC and SOC information as well as preliminary contact details: (please note that IAU is in the process of updating the information on that page).

Further information will be posted in a dedicated webpage. However, we suggest to keep a note of the following important dates:

2018-11-03: First call and release of the conference website. Early registration begins.

2019-05-03: Multiple deadlines!

  • Early registration ends.

  • Deadline to apply for financial aid.

  • Deadline to propose a scientific talk.


2019-09-03: Deadline to pay the conference fee for people with accepted talks
